Reliable and robust systems to detect and harvest fruits in unstructured environments are crucial for harvesting robots. A geometric approach is first applied to obtain the cutting points of the
peduncle based on the fruit bounding box. We designed a novel gripper that simultaneously clamps and cuts the peduncles of crops without contacting the flesh. We have conducted experiments with a robotic manipulator to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed harvesting system in being able to efficiently harvest most crops in real laboratory environments
The harvesting of fruits is done manually and is very labour intensive. The manual harvesting is efficient, the harvesters will increase the efficiency of the labour and reduce the harvesting time.
 India is the largest producer of mango and about 23 lakh hectare of land is under cultivation of mango.The mango harvester harvests mango with 1-2 cm long pedicle, it needs less force to harvest the fruit and shelf life of the fruit is increased by 3-4 days. About 100 mango fruits can be harvested in one hour
